Plant Sale Fundraiser

MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. (WCBI) – Buying a few Christmas decorations could help feed some residents.

Mississippi State’s Horticulture Club is sponsoring a poinsettia and Christmas cacti sale.

The traditional holiday plants have been sold for years on campus.

Organizers say they want to reach out to young people about where their food comes from and eating healthy.

“We donate the money and time to plant some stuff there and teach the kids about horticulture, growing plants, eating vegetables and fruit we planted out there. And right now, we are starting a community garden on campus. We will probably use the money and some our hands and volunteers to get set up there,” says Manager Phil Reamer.

The sale is continuing at the Dorman Hall greenhouses, across from the Junction, on campus.
