Police: Ecru Man to Face Charges after Ambulance Theft

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Police say they plan to file charges against the Ecru man who stole an ambulance from a Tupelo hospital over the weekend.

Tupelo police Chief Bart Aguirre tells WCBI they’ll likely charge 21-year-old Steven Foster with theft of an ambulance, felony evading, and possibly other charges, after Foster led law enforcement on a chase through Lee and Pontotoc counties.

Aguirre says Foster was an ER patient at North Mississippi Medical Center, Sunday, apparently escaped, and stole an ambulance.

Foster was eventually stopped in a Pontotoc County church parking lot, and was sent back to the hospital to be examined.

Aguirre says charges are pending until Foster is released from the hospital.
