Police Investigate Shooting That Sent One Person To The Hospital

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- A Friday night shooting in Columbus sends one person to the hospital.

Columbus Police are investigating a shooting that happened in the 900 block of 20th Street North.

The incident happened just after 8 o’clock.

The victim was conscious and talking to emergency personnel when transported from Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle via medical helicopter to another facility for treatment.

No other details on the victim’s condition are known at this time.

Police Chief Fred Shelton believes the victim and the suspect knew each other.

“We are early into the investigation and don’t have a lot of details to release at this time,” said Chief Shelton. “However, the early evidence is the incident was not random. We are continuing our investigation.”

The shooting is still under investigation.
