Prentiss County deputies make drug arrest during safety checkpoint

PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A weekend ride in Prentiss County landed a New Albany man in jail facing drug charges.

While conducting a safety checkpoint on County Road 5141 on Friday, Prentiss County deputies pulled over a driver who reportedly had a suspended license.

The driver gave the deputies consent to search the vehicle.

A tin container containing methamphetamine was reportedly found in the passenger floorboard area.

The passenger, Shawn Thwaites of New Albany, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

His bond was set at $20,000.
