Preparation underway for Sturgis South Motorcycle Rally

STURGIS, Miss. (WCBI) – Get ready to hear all the rumbles and roars as motorcycles roll in for the Sturgis South Motorcycle Rally.

Folks are gearing up as the fun is set to kick off this Thursday.

Three days ahead of the event campers are already showing up at the park.

It’s the 20th anniversary for the rally. This year, the armbands are $5 cheaper with the hopes of getting more people in the park.

There’ll be music, food, and other vendors. A free concert gets things started Thursday night.

Mayor Billy Blankenship said he expects a big crowd this year.

“The pre-registration attendance has doubled what it was last year and I think this year with it being the 20th year anniversary it has drawn a lot of attention. We have more people in the park now than what we normally have,” said Mayor Blankenship.

The rally ends Sunday.

Money raised at the rally also helps out the Catch A Dream Foundation.
