Probation Lifted

CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Calhoun County School District is no longer on probation and is now accredited.

Superintendent Mike Moore calls the probation an unfortunate situation.

The probation lift comes after a misunderstanding in communication clears up.

The clerical problem comes after the school district changed their email and were not receiving information from the Mississippi Department of Education regarding a 2015 IEP complaint from a parent that was resolved.

According to Superintendent Mike Moore, “We had no idea this was going on. Even though in 2015, when we met with the IEP committee and we solved the problem that the parent wanted and she dropped the complaint within two weeks and then it gets hung up in email and that’s what happens.”

The five week ruling was overturned on December 7th

The superintendent appreciates the state working with the district to make the correction.
