WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)- Safety first, that’s one of the first rules when it comes to riding a bike. And the most important part? A helmet. This Saturday from 9 A.M. – 2P.PM. there will likely be a crowd of children in the West Point Police Department parking lot; but rest assured no arrests are being made. Police officers noticed a lack of helmets on young cyclists during last weeks ‘Walk to School’ day. The West Point Police Department is giving away 200 free bike helmets to any child needing a helmet. The helmets are paid for by the Safe Routes to School grant.
