Amory, Miss. (WCBI) — The Amory Mayor and Board of Aldermen will be holding a town hall meeting during their scheduled board meeting Tuesday to discuss rental ordinances.

Mayor Brad Blalock said the city is dealing with “blight” and is looking for the city to take similar action, in terms of rental ordinances, to what Tupelo and New Albany has done.

Blalock is hoping to create ordinances that would protect the “renter and the landlord and the city.” Blalock also said the city is “not trying to be very stringent, not trying to be very domineering…” with the possible laws.

The meeting is open to public to gather comments, questions, and concerns residents have about the proposed ordinances.

The town hall meeting starts at 6 P.M.

Blalock said no final decisions will be made in Tuesday’s meeting, and that the purpose is to gain “suggestions” from the public.
