Video: Reports Say More Than 100 Children Catch Sickness In Millport

MILLPORT, Ala. (WCBI) – Lamar County Schools Superintendent Garth Moss says more than 100 children are sick and missing school Wednesday due to what he’s describing as “stomach-virus-like symptoms.”

Initial reports say as many as 138 kids at South Lamar School have claimed to be suffering from this sickness. The exact illness and what caused it are unknown, according to Moss.

Moss says the county has notified the Alabama Department of Health. He says a state environmentalist will be at the school Thursday to assess the situation.

WCBI will have more on this developing story when information becomes available.
