Resource Fair Helps Disabled Individuals

BECKER, Miss. (WCBI) — More than 20 disability advocates across Mississippi Came together to offer resources for the Becker Community.

The first ever Resource Fair was held in Becker at the advanced learning center with the hopes to inform family members, friends and disabled individuals about different programs throughout Mississippi.

Vendors from independent living, Region III Mental Health Mississippi and Rehabilitation Services were some of the services on hand.

One advocate says he hopes through this event many will be open minded around those with disabilities.

“A lot of people don’t know what to say that has a disability so they are kind of standoffish. So just to be to talk to people just like they are anybody else because that are. They just have a disability,” says Ronnie Jerigan.

Organizers say they hope to have another event in August.
