Retail Coach gives an update on future retailers

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – If you’re looking for new stores in Columbus, you will probably need to hang-up your shopping bag for a while.

The Retail Coach, a recruiting firm hired by Columbus councilmen, gave an update on its findings Thursday morning at City Hall.

Data was collected for six months on the shoppers that come to the Friendly City, and folks from Amory, Mathiston, Macon and Gordo all bought from Columbus stores.

There are talks going on with retailers about the old K-Mart and Office Depot buildings, but nothing has been finalized.

The agency feels optimistic retailers will come to the city, but it will take time.
