Ride For Carmen

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Hundreds of people gathered today for the fifth annual Ride for Carmen.

The event brings together barrel racing and team roping to celebrate the life of Carmen Smith, who passed away due to a traumatic brain injury back in 2015.

Her mother Gina Smith says Barrel racing is something her daughter loved to do.

“As a mother who would much rather have her child here, it really it is what gets me through. It’s just knowing that this many people so many people here don’t even didn’t even meet Carmen. They just, like I said the barrel racing and rodeo world is a tight nit. It doesn’t matter if they knew you or not they just come out and support and as a mother who doesn’t have her child it is very, it helps you make it through the day knowing so many people support you and have your back and help you out,” Smith said.

All proceeds go to a scholarship in Carmens’ name is donated to one Winston County senior and one Choctaw County senior.
