Road Closes Due To Flooding In Tupelo
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – In Tupelo, flooding prompts a road closure.
This morning part of Jefferson street was closed but it has since been cleared and is now reopen.
Primary creeks were filled because of rains the past week, and that backed the rainwater from this morning into secondary ditches.
This video shows higher than usual water levels at the Ballard Park Lake.
Two inches or more of rain fell in a short amount of time throughout the Tupelo area.
Public works crews were monitoring the streets to make sure storm drains didn’t get backed up during the deluge.
Officials encourage motorists to avoid roads if they are covered in water, Remember, “turn around, don’t drown.”
