Roundabout Approved For Main Street Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus City Council recently approved plans to turn the road leading to Main Street into a roundabout.

An MDOT survey showed that between 2012 and 2017, 111 accidents were reported on the corridor between the Highway 82 on-ramp and 6th street.

The new plans predict a significant decrease in the amount of possible accidents with a roundabout.

The plan will cost the city nearly $300,000.

Construction is to begin at the beginning of 2019.
