Saltillo opens City Hall for flood victims

SALTILLO, Miss. (WCBI) – Saltillo opened its City Hall for any residents displaced by the flooding.

The City Hall’s meeting room was opened early Friday morning, as reports started to come in of flooding in some residential areas.

The American Red Cross provided blankets and other supplies for people who need to use the temporary shelter.

Lenny and Patsy DeLauro, along with their dog, “Gizmo” used the shelter until family members from Tuscaloosa could pick them up.

“I want to thank the city as a matter of fact, Saltillo Fire Department is one of the best I’ve run across in my forty years in the south, if it hadn’t been for them coming to the house, it’s no telling what I would have woken up to due to the weather conditions and being here at city hall, it gave us a opportunity to get our thoughts together and plan out what we are going to do next,” said Lenny DeLauro.

The DeLauros said they have never had any issues with flooding during the 14 years they have lived in their Saltillo home.
