Salute for Service Award Program honors two Aberdeen residents

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – Leadership and social responsibilities are just a few of the qualities Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. exemplified.

Friday, Aberdeen High School honored two residents for their same dedication.

The 5th annual “Salute for Service Award Program” recognized Tom Allmond and Preston Belle.

Organizers wanted to find people who work in the same spirit Dr. King did to bring racial equality and unity to the nation.

“Dr. Martin Luther King’s life is one that we can never allow the light to go out. Let’s this year be more about getting out and doing service and a little bit less about ceremony,” said committee chairmen James Cook.

This year’s theme was “Remember! Celebrate! Act!”
