School construction on schedule in New Hope

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- Exciting news for the Lowndes County School District.

Construction on the New Hope High School and new career tech center is right on schedule.

Our WCBI Drone got a look from the sky earlier this year during construction.

Friday, the Lowndes County School Board met to talk about the progress so far.

Superintendent Lynn Wright says teachers are already starting to pack up to get ready for the big move.

Both new facilities, Wright says, will benefit students as well as everyone in Lowndes County.

“We’ve had several groups tour through the building. It’s a state of the art building. We’re just so blessed to have that type of facility here in Lowndes County,” said Superintendent Lynn Wright.

As far as the new tech center goes, Wright says equipment for the facility has been ordered and it should be in by July.

Both the new, New Hope High School and tech center, are expected to open in August.
