WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – Never mind the scorching temperatures outside, Summer is over for students in West Point.

Youngsters across the district were back in class, bright and early, Tuesday (8-6) morning.

We caught up with kids at Churchill Elementary, where everything went smoothly.

300 first graders and 260 second graders will be learning there this year.

Churchill is growing.

Both a first grade class and second grade classroom have been added to the school.

Principal Cindy Donahoo says, ” Here at Churchill Elementary, with our first and second graders, they all came in very enthusiastic. We had no tears. Everyone was very excited to be back. It was wonderful to see the children come back and be excited about being here.”

The district’s success depends, as always, on the combined efforts of parents, staff and students.
