School Takeover Decision

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Tomorrow, December 14, the Mississippi Board of Education, will decide the fate of a school district in our area.

The issue of a state takeover of the Jackson, Humphrey County and Noxubee County school districts is up for debate.

So far, recommendations point the board toward placing the districts under a statewide achievement school district.

All three districts are under consideration for takeover due to receiving back-to-back F academic ratings.

If deemed an achievement school district, Noxubee County Schools would remain under state control until it scores a C rating or better for five years.

The new state achievement school district will possibly launch next fall.
