COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The search is on for the next Superintendent of the Columbus Municipal School District.
In a three to two vote Monday, the board decision was to not renew Dr. Philip Hickman’s contract.
The board will now check out hiring firms to help find a qualified candidate for the position.
School Board President Jason Spears says the leg work in searching for a new superintendent will begin immediately.
“I will reach out to different vendors that offer those type of services to boards like us and hopefully have something to present to the board In December,” says Spears.
The decision not to renew Dr. Hickman’s Contract comes after the board further reviewed where the district falls academically.
Dr. Hickman’s contract is set to expire in June.
