Second chance made good during rehab program’s graduation

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s graduation day but these graduates weren’t wearing caps and gowns.

Thursday the Mississippi Department of Corrections partnered with Mississippi State University to graduate 21 men through a state rehabilitation program.

It’s called “Thinking For A Change.”

The 90 day program is for technical violators, those on house arrest or on parole.

District Attorney Scott Colom says this program offers people who’ve made mistakes before a second chance.

“It’s very important that we have programs that look at rehabilitation for the people that are in our system because most people are going to get out of prison,” continued Colom. “We need to do our best to put them in a position where they can be successful make sure that they are tax payers instead of tax burdens.”

This was the 3rd graduating class for the “Think For A Change” program.
