Senatorial candidate accepts endorsement in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – State Representative David Baria receives the endorsement of Golden Triangle Democratic party leaders.

The Bay St. Louis Democrat was in Columbus Thursday to accept the endorsement.

State and local politicians, along with area voters were there to talk with Baria.

Baria calls his run for the U.S. Senate, the ‘poor man’s campaign’ and says the political odds have always been stacked against him.

He also knows how important it is to get people out to the polls to vote in next Tuesday’s runoff.

“That is one of the reasons why we are here today, and one of the reasons why we are traveling around the state meeting with groups like this. These folks are motivated Democrats. They are going to be in touch with folks in their community and churches and encourage them and remind them to get out and vote. So, that is one of the reasons whey we are here, but it is a challenge,” said Baria.

Baria faces Howard Sherman in the Democratic runoff.

The winner of that election will face Republican Roger Wicker in November.
