Severe weather causes power outages and fallen trees in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A lot of trees fell but no injuries were reported in Lowndes County after Wednesday’s high winds.

Emergency Management Director Cindy Lawrence said three or four trees landed on houses.

This is what it looked like on Byrnes Circle on Columbus’ northside after the storm.

Lawrence said there were reports of trees down throughout the city and county.

Flash flooding was also an issue.

Power outages were also an issue.

Friday morning, 4-County Electric Power Association reported more than 3,300 customers without power in its coverage area, which included several counties.
