Shoppers Gear Up For Cyber Monday

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Cyber Monday begins tomorrow and it’s a day where shoppers can get various deals and specials online.

Cyber Monday began in 2005 and has grown in popularity through the years.

According to expandedrablings.com, Americans are expected to spend over $6 billion on Cyber Monday this year.

Many shoppers are saying they prefer Cyber Monday over Black Friday.

“Black Friday weekend was hectic. You got to have money to spend money,” says shopper Starr Hamilton.

“This Black Friday weekend was hectic. Malls, Walmart, especially Walmart was packed. You had some people just going crazy. They did not wait at all for the designated time,” says shopper Deonte Griffin.

“We were Christmas shopping for other people and we ended up…It’s for ourselves!” say shoppers Thelma Cox and Sandy Sansing.

“I would rather pay full price and sleep in then get up and fight over a deal,”  says shopper Kristy Sansing.

“This is about round three for us on the shopping,” says Cox.

“Thankfully I was not a part of some incidents because apparently some people got in fights and like, yeah i’m over here like yeah I’m not getting involved,” says Griffin.

“I’ve been to Abercrombie, Footlocker, do a lot of online shopping though mostly, but I did get some out of the stores,” says shopper Demetrius Malone.

“I prefer online mostly,” says shopper Tina Wells.

“Yeah I prefer Rue 21 and online,” says shopper Nyasha Brown.

“I like to get out and just see the stuff and it’s just fun to go,” says Cox.

“We like to look at people,” says Sandy Sansing.

“The only thing we did was visit with family on Thursday and I do all my shopping online on Monday,” says Kristy Sansing.

“Definitely. Definitely Cyber Monday shopping,” says Wells.

“I like free shipping and we get some really good deals on Cyber Monday,” says shopper Beverlee Hollis.

“I got this site called ASOS where I but a lot of my gear. They got this 25 percent off gig going so yeah I’m going to buy a lot of stuff from there,” says Malone.

“You don’t have to go to the stores and deal with the customers and the crowd and it’s cheaper,” says Hamilton.

“It’s primarily going to be more online because I don’t have to have anyone over me trying to push me to buy something. I can actually take my time and decide… is this something that I really want,” says Griffin.

“I can do my shopping, like I said, in my pajamas at home. It’s a lot more convenient,” says Kristy Sansing.

“Be careful out there. Just be careful. There are some real crazy people out there,” says Griffin.

“It’s coming fast and It’ll be gone quick,” says Wells.

“Merry Christmas!” says Cox.

Last’s year’s Cyber Monday was marked as the largest online shopping day in U.S. history.
