Sibling Shooting Investigation Continues

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Monroe County investigators continue to gather evidence in the weekend shooting death of a 14-year-old child.

Coroner Alan Gurley says Dijonae White, 14, died from the injuries suffered in the shooting. Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says White and her brother, 9, argued over a video game controller Saturday afternoon, March 17, when investigators say he shot her.

Detectives want to know how and where the younger sibling got the .25 caliber used in the shooting.

The District Attorney is also involved in the investigation to determine what if any criminal charges should be filed.

Initial reports said the Tupelo Middle School student was 13 but records now show Dijonae White was born in September 2003 making her 14 when she died.
