Sickle Cell Awareness Walk

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – The mayor of West Point names April, Sickle Cell Awareness month.

The progressive foundation of Clay County comes together to help spread awareness by hosting their first ever Sickle Cell Awareness 5k.

The event helped raise awareness within the clay county area where multiple families suffer from sickle cell. A few families came out to speak at the event.

Proceeds will be used to help the families in West Point and Clay county with medical expenses and more.

The foundation plans on holding this event every April.
