Video: SOCSD Board Takes No Action In Executive Session

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The Starkville Oktibbeha County School board took no action on a personnel matter during executive session Tuesday.

After meeting behind closed doors for more than an hour, board president Jenny Turner released a statement. It reads: “The Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District is a welcoming, safe and supportive school system for all of our students.  We seek to provide a school environment that values diversity.  Our district policies are firmly against harassment, bullying, intimidation and discrimination of any kind.  Any student or employee experiencing them for any reason should let a teacher, principal or supervisor know immediately.”

The board did not confirm whether the executive session was related to complaints from parents regarding a recent Facebook post by an elementary school teacher.

Superintendent Lewis Holloway told WCBI News Monday that the district was looking into complaints about personal comments made by the teacher.

In the post, she shared a Fox news article and made personal comments about Clorox scrubbing the White House.

The board has scheduled another special call meeting for this Thursday at 11:00am. There is an executive session on the agenda.
