Stabbing Update: Police Say Stabbing Victim Started Fight

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police say a man defends himself by stabbing an attacker.

Police were called to a report of a stabbing in the 2200 block of 15th Avenue North, just after 6 PM Tuesday.

Investigators tell WCBI Marquez Parks and another man walked up to unidentified victim and started beating on him outside of a store.

That’s when the victim pulled a knife and cut Parks.

Captain Fred Shelton says Parks remains in the hospital with a collapsed lung.

Charges are expected to be filed against Parks.

Police are reviewing surveillance video.
