Video: Starkville, Corinth Named Fiber Finalists

RIDGELAND, Ms ( WCBI) Starkville is among nine cities still in the running to be among the first in the state to get fiber to the home internet service.

C spire was scheduled to announce one winner this morning but instead has decided that a total of nine bids from cities across the state were so good, it is expanding the roll out.

There is still a bit of a race to be first. Designated neighborhoods in each of the nine cities are now being asked to pre register and sign agreements for the service. Once pre determined levels of customers are reached, the fiber installation will start. The company says it anticipates the first neighborhoods to get the One gigabyte service sometime in mid 2014.

The price tag ranges from 80 dollars a month for internet only to 160 for a internet, tv and phone bundle. Corinth and Batesville join Clinton, Hattiesburg,  Horn Lake, McComb, Quitman and Ridgeland as the other  finalists
