STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A major retail store wants to locate in Starkville but plans could be delayed.

The Golden Triangle Development LINK says the site would be located behind Sweet Peppers Deli on Highway 12.

It would be an $11 million investment by the unnamed athletic and outdoor store.

LINK officials planned to present their proposal on how to lure the chain to Starkville at the recent board of alderman meeting.

However, economic developers say that presentation was removed from the aldermen’s agenda.

The LINK says the store wanted to begin construction on the 65,000 square foot building in February but it could be delayed.

Mayor Parker Wiseman says there were concerns from aldermen about going into executive session and that’s why it was pulled from the agenda.

He says the city looks forward to working with the developer.
