Starkville hotel & restaurant tax moves to state Senate

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- A hotel and restaurant tax for Starkville recreation moves forward in the legislature.

The state House passed the bill Thursday.

It now moves to the state Senate.

Revenue from the one percent tax would used to maintain new and existing sports and recreational facilities in Starkville.

Some money could also be used to construct a new facility.

If Governor Phil Bryant signs the legislation, Starkville voters would also have to approve the measure.
