Oktibbeha County, Miss. (Press Release)  – Milton Brown has been sentenced to a term of forty (40) years in prison for the Second Degree Murder of Ellis Bishop, Jr. and twenty (20) years for the armed robbery of Mr. Bishop. The sentences are to run consecutively.

“Since I started my term as District Attorney, I told my staff to prioritize the prosecution of violent crimes like the 2013 murder of Mr. Bishop. The hard work of the Starkville Police Department and Assistant District Attorney Scott Rogillio resulted in this plea and conviction,” said Sixteen Circuit Court District Attorney Scott Colom.

“Nothing can bring back the life lost to the Bishop family as a result of the Defendant’s terrible crimes; but, this at least brings the family closure and justice.”

On July 12, 2013, Milton Brown killed Ellis Bishop after robbing him at gun point. After a thorough investigation by the Starkville Police Department, Mr. Brown was indicted for capital murder on Jan. 15, 2014.
