Starkville PD Lieutenant Bill Lott awarded

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – This week is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

And a Starkville police officer received statewide recognition for his work.

Attorney General Jim Hood presented Lieutenant Bill Lott with the 2019 Amy Clayton Justice Achievement Award.

Lott was singled out for his investigation of the 1990 Labor Day Murders cold case.

Last year his efforts resulted in the identification and arrest of a suspect in the case.

“To me, it’s nice to get accolades but the thing that satisfies me is to be able to tell the family that we’ve arrested somebody. Being able to locate somebody, you know, that’s been out there that we didn’t know and get him arrested on a 28-year-old murder charge. murder case for the family,” said Lieutenant Lott.

Lott said he will continue to put that same effort into all of his cases.
