Starkville Police Department honors fallen officers of the area

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The Starkville Police Department celebrated National Police Week Tuesday morning with a tribute to fallen officers.

The department was joined by the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s department as well as members of the United States Navy.

The ceremony paid tribute to local policemen who died in the line of duty.

Patrolman Liquori Tate of Hattiesburg, Corporal Keith Crenshaw of Eupora, and Chief Anthony Lucas of French Camp were among those honored in the service.

“It’s important that we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice in law enforcement. Sometimes we take that for granted, you know we’re at home sleeping while their out they’re out protecting. When it’s raining, when it’s flooding, they’re out getting wet. We just want to commemorate all those officers as well as the ones that made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Starkville Chief of Police Frank Nichols.

Starkville PD also made a donation to the Officer Liquori Tate Memorial Foundation at the end of the ceremony.
