Starkville Utilities warns of phone scam

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Starkville Utilities is warning of a scam trying to take advantage of its customers.

The utility company said if you receive a phone call from someone posing as a Starkville utility employee demanding payment for an overdue bill, to hang up and report the call.

On a post to its Facebook page, the company said if payment is past due you will receive a second notice.

The company said it does not call customers for payment.
