Starkville Veterans Day Festivities

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Despite this morning’s chilly weather, Starkville held it’s first ever Veterans Day parade.

The parade included area veterans, active military personnel, area schools and city officials.

After the parade, veterans were honored with a musical tribute on the steps of the courthouse.

Several local artists performed along with the Starkville High School choir.

Organizers say its important to thank those who’ve served.

“Starkville has never had a veterans day parade, so it’s important to honor those who have served ” said Organizer Kayla Gilmore.

“It says we embrace our veterans, and we appreciate what they’ve done for us and we are just happy with the turn out and to get this on the schedule ever year,” said Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill.

Gilmore says plans are already underway for next years parade.
