Starkville woman named new homeowner recipient

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – An OCH Regional Medical Center employee got the surprise of a life at work Wednesday.

Erica Rice found out that she will soon be the next homeowner, thanks to volunteers with Starkville Area Habitat For Humanity.

Colleagues, friends and habitat members all gathered for the good news.

Rice’s application was chosen from a field of 30.

Rice said having this opportunity will change everything for her family.

“Today has been a dream come true, I’m so excited. I can’t wait to tell my kids and I know they are going to be very excited this is a new step above a big beginning for me and my kids,” said Rice.

Construction on the home will begin in March. Rice and her family should be in their new home this time next year.
