Student Athlete of the Week: Kylin Hill, Columbus HS, Football

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Columbus Falcons football team are off to a three and three record start this season. They are also coming off a tough loss to Tupelo last week, and will look to rebound on Friday at Horn Lake. The Falcons also have a running back in Kylin Hill that will play in the Southeastern Conference next fall.

Kylin Hill’s journey started off rough at Columbus High School, but has improved tremendously. Now into his senior campaign, he looks to keep the momentum going.

“It started off rough. A team not knowing for winning a lot, so last year we turned the table. Started our winning streak in while, like second best record in school history, and this year we’re hoping for better things to come,” says athlete Kylin Hill.

Last season Hill rushed for over seventeen hundred rushing yards and had eighteen rushing touchdowns. His leadership in practice and in games are what the head coach and teammates see in him.

“In year three, you just got an individual who’s just grown more as a football player, as a young man. He’s really matured on and off the field, and he’s been having a great year,” says head coach Randal Montgomery.

“He’s an excellent athlete. A lot of motivation toward us and the rest of the teammates. He keeps us laughing more than anything,” says teammate CJ Gholar.

“He’s been a good teammate. He leads by play rather than vocal, but he leads vocally too, but more of like play,” adds another teammate Patrick Jackson.

Hill is one of the top recruits in the state of Mississippi, and he is also committed to play for Mississippi State next season, and he also has a great relationship with head coach Dan Mullen.

“Overall he turned the program around a lot. Been recruiting me since the start of my tenth grade year. It’s been very exciting. Dan Mullen is real close. People don’t know how cool. He’s a very exciting guy. Got a lot of energy, and he is just really cool,” says Hill.

Hill will forever be remembered in his time on and off the field and being apart of the Falcons football program.

“I just want to be known as a guy that as soon as he gets on the field. He gave it his all every snap, every qtr, and every play,” says Hill.
