Video: Sturgis Volunteer Firefighter Counseling

STURGIS, Miss. (WCBI)

Sturgis Volunteer Firefighters were among the first to respond to a horrific fatal accident Thursday night. Friday, they came together to help one another get through the tragedy.

For volunteer firefighters, working accidents in your own community can be very difficult. That’s why a grief counselor visited the volunteers tonight to help with any feelings firefighters have after working the scene.

Sturgis Fire Chief Greg Wall says it’s important for the firefighters to clear their minds after dealing with a difficult incident.

He says,”Often times when tragedy occurs people deal with tragedy in different ways and it’s good to have an opportunity for people to get things off their chest talk to one an other and to talk to a professional to get some piece of mind.”
Sturgis fire volunteers are a part of the Oktibbeha County Fire Department and respond to local incidents.
