Summer Weather Pattern Sticks Around

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — Sunny skies early, scattered afternoon thunderstorms, and high heat indices all day long — what more could you expect from an August day in Mississippi?

TUESDAY: Areas along and south of Highway 32, and east into Monroe County as well, are under a heat advisory for today from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Heat index values are expected to get up to between 105 and 110°. The actual high temperature will be around 98°. Skies will be nice and mostly sunny to start off the day, but there is a threat for some scattered thunderstorms rolling through our area this afternoon and evening.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Some isolated thunderstorms could linger in our area through the evening hours, and the cloud cover is likely to stay in our area overnight as well.The low temperature will be around 74°, and it will also be pretty humid as well.

WEDNESDAY: Those temperatures are likely to get back into the triple digits, with that high expected to reach 100°. The peak heat index will also be around 109°. Skies will be partly cloudy for most of us. To the north and west of our area, there is a marginal risk for severe weather, primarily focused on damaging wind and hail — but the chance that we will feel any of those impacts is relatively low.
