Summer Youth Program Luncheon

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI-TV) It was a celebration of a job well done in Columbus.

Participants in the city’s Summer Youth Program wrapped up their labors with a special luncheon Tuesday at the Trotter Convention Center.

The students spend the summer working on job skills and life skills, splitting their work days between cleaning up city properties and putting in some classroom time.

Normally, the program is paid for by a grant from the State Department of Transportation, but budget cuts cancelled the grants, leaving the program in jeopardy.

An anonymous donor stepped in to pick up the cost just before work was to begin..
