Super Blood Moon Total Lunar Eclipse Sunday

Calling all werewolves! We are in for an epic lunar event this weekend! Sunday night, our area will be witness to a Super Blood Moon Total Eclipse!

From 9:00 PM to Midnight, our area will get to see the eclipse unfold. The Earth is going to move between the moon and the sun Sunday night. As it does, the sun will cause the Earth to cast a shadow on the moon. This will cause the Moon to appear red, hence the name Blood Moon. The partial eclipse will officially begin at 9:33 PM Sunday night across northeast Mississippi and west Alabama. At 10:41 PM, the total lunar eclipse will begin. At 11:12 PM, the entire moon will appear blood red!

We may have a few clouds over far northwestern sides of the area, but visibility is not expected to be an issue across the area as of now.

One thing that will be an issue may be the winds. A strong cold front will push through our area on Saturday, bringing in much colder air. As this system pushes out Sunday morning, our winds will shift to the north. Highs on Sunday will struggle to make it into the middle 30s! Temperatures Sunday night are going to plummet down into the upper 10s and lower 20s across the area. The winds are going to make it feel like we are in the middle 10s!

The Super Blood Moon Total Lunar Eclipse this weekend will be the last one until May 2021, and the last one visible from the United States until 2022! If you are planning on viewing the eclipse this weekend, be sure to bundle up, wear multiple layers of clothing, and maybe even build a fire to stay warm!
