Supreme Court ruling clears way for special election in Okolona

OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI)- Voters in Okolona will soon be heading back to the polls, this time to vote in a special election for the Town’s Marshal race.

Tommy Ivy Sr. currently sits in that position.

However, in January, the Supreme Court issued a ruling saying democratic candidate William Randle’s name should not have been taken off the ballot.

Ivy appealed that ruling.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court rejected Ivy’s appeal, clearing the way for a special election to take place.

Governor Phil Bryant will have to call the special election.
