Symbolic plane gets a new shine

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A symbol representing the connection between the Columbus Air Force Base and the community has a new shine.

Military Affairs Committee volunteers and four base members washed the T-37 near the base’s front entrance, just off Highway 45 on Tuesday afternoon.

The plane is on loan to Lowndes County from the Air Force Museum and must meet certain requirements, including its looks.

These volunteers and workers say it’s important to keep the visual connection between CAFB and Columbus looking its best.

The plane was installed in 2004.
