Talks of new assisted living facility placed on hold

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Talks of putting in an assisted living home in the Friendly City hit a road block.

The Columbus Planning and Zoning Commission chose to table the topic of putting an assisted living home in the Northaven Woods community off of Highway 45.

Right now regulations do not allow that type of facility to be built in the neighborhood.

Changes to those regulations have to be made before the board can vote on the matter.

Even after those changes, there’ll be a petition for residents to decide if this is something they’d like to see happen or not.

Residents in the affected area will be notified before a decision is made.

The board anticipates discussing the topic in the near future.
