COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — “Tales From The Crypt” officially kicked off in Columbus Wednesday as part of Spring Pilgrimage.
Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science students randomly choose a person buried in Friendship Cemetery, research them, and then put on a performance to bring their chosen character to life.
“I’m very excited…”, said student Madison McLean from Columbus, who portrayed “Katie Lee Broyles”, “…I’m nervous but I’m super excited to be a part of this, I think its a real honor.”
Students have been preparing for the event since the beginning of this year.
McLean friend and performance partner Georgia Tucker from Starkville, who portrayed “Charlotte T. Pierce”, said, “we definitely have to learn how to not look at each other and not laugh and just completely trust one another so if I mess up, she’s got my back…”
Tucker and McLean said the students have to put their own special twist into their character based on the facts found from research. Both students said they found many similarities between themselves and their chosen person.
Tales From The Crypt is back Friday, April 1st at 7 P.M.
The performers will also be out next week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7 P.M.
