Thanksgiving dinners are happening a little different this year

GOLDEN TRIANGLE, Miss. (WCBI)- With Thanksgiving only two days away many people are out getting everything they need.

People are coming in to get everything they need for their Thanksgiving meal.

And while some are making their dinner from scratch others are studying their options.

“We are doing about twice as much business this year as last year,” said Andy Caigley.

Turkey or Ham? Here both are flying off the shelves as people get ready for Thanksgiving feasts.

“The Thanksgiving season’s definitely started stronger earlier some years the customers wait later to shop like their last-minute shoppers this year it started Sunday,” said Max Stillman.

And this year people are looking at cooking alternatives.

“People are doing more quick service stuff today for sure you know you kind of see cooked turkeys and all that we deep-fried turkeys we also smoke turkeys and then we also just do regular oven basted turkeys and we do a lot of pre-cooked meals there also real strong this year’s been a little stronger on the pre-cooked. Fresh turkeys are still selling pretty good though,” said Stillman.

The reason why? It’s easier, and there’s less room for error.

“They can kinda see that it’s a lot easier on them. A lot of people are working all the way up until Wednesday, and this just helps them to ease. They just have to call and say this is what I’d like and we pick them up everything we picked up Wednesday morning or the afternoon and they have heating instructions,” said Matthew Molina.

But somebody still has to do all of the work on those meals, and they are busy.

“We had a truck that was about three times the size of our usual income come in on Monday, and that was all of our turkeys our green beans yams a ton of stuff came in here and the last two days solid we’ve been prepping and cooking,” said Andy Caigley.

Homemade or pre-made sales are up this year.

“You know the dollar average ring for customers is actually up this year starting Sunday it seems like people had a little more money to spend out there, so it’s been strong,” said Stillman.

Stillman tells us he expects to stay busy through the end of the week.
