COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Some members of Mississippi’s National Guard traded in their coats for aprons.

The team concentrated on perfecting their kitchen schools at the Mississippi University for Women’s Culinary Arts department. Each member learned new ways to prepare a healthy and quick meal. One member says it’s a great way for them to refresh their skills before the competition.

“Cook and you know learn the skills of the layout. I think the training will get us prepared to do an excellent job where we can hopefully win the competition,” says Sergeant Alesia Love.

Team is hoping to compete in the 45th annual Philip A. Competition food competition sometime this year.
