STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — With Christmas just five weeks away, some local performers are getting ready to showcase their talents in a holiday favorite – the Nutcracker ballet.

The Academy of Competitive and Performing Arts in Starkville will present the entire ballet of the Nutcracker. Dancers range from four years old to local college students.
Parents and community members will also take part in the ballet performance. The production is lead by Dance Director Dolan Shoemaker, who began his 25-year career at MUW.
Tanner Fant, Mississippi’s Distinguished Young Woman, will be dancing the lead role of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

“Ever since I was little, dance has been my life and to have such a great holiday such as Christmas and so near and dear to my heart come together in one. It’s just really awesome. I don’t think a Christmas is complete without the Nutcracker,” says Fant.

The Nutcracker will be presented on December 13th and 14th at MSU’s McComas Hall. For more information about the performance, call the Academy at (662) 323-0504 or go to http://www.acpastarkville.com.
