The Power Of Hello Cheers Up Caledonia High
CALEDONIA, Miss. (WCBI) – Dozens of Caledonia High School students greeted fellow students this morning with cheers and smiles.
It’s all a part of the school’s Project S.W.A.P., which stands for students with a purpose.
The mission of the project is for students to see each other and know they matter.
Students and teachers were all over campus waving signs and hands as students were dropped off at school.
The idea for the movement was a joint effort between teachers and students.
“Students want their voices to be heard. In the recent news, we’ve seen walkouts, our kids want to do something. They want to take a stand and they want to take a stand for good, for a positive change, and so this gives them a way to get out there and do something,” says Caledonia High teacher, Rebecca Studdard.
“There are so many hurting and there are so many people who need somebody and they want to reach out, but they don’t really know what to do, but if you see a big movement that comes on, then, it kind of pushes you to want to share what’s going on with your heart,” says Caledonia High student, Madison Johnson.
The program will last for the next four weeks and each week will have a different focus.
Some of those topics include a ‘Letting Go Day’ and ‘Don’t Be Mean Behind the Screen.’
